Lebanon, the unfinished city

the unfinished city
abandoned buildings
where long lost homes
streets filled with living people
Where the mountains touch the sea

Upside down
with the city below
Lighted
like the shinning stars in the sky

Maybe thats why buildings are unfinished -
Because people have lives to do
and no time to waste
on silly façades

And even in a city where lights give up
every corner is lighted up,
With open arms
And resilient gentleness
As if the war, the pain and the tragedies
Have made them warmer
instead of madder
Washed away the surface
and left them to enjoy
the remainings of the important matters
The ones that belong to the soul

They got lives to do
Ungovernable hope that fuels their drive
and what a fucking drive, literally

seeing Lebanon on its highest vibe-
cheering for the present, and nothing else
Because we don’t have anything else,
just this very right moment
This happiness

Draining the life out of the ruins
And bringing it back where it belongs
To its people

Swimming in a horny sea
that Crashes with fury
with their idiosyncratic way
of not giving a fuck
Because if you drown, you will swim back up
As seven times did Beirut
As the sun standing above the clouds

Conversations with strangers that share the same hope for life
The freedom of broken lives
the one that comes from the chaos of Unruled hearts

They don’t have time to waste,
they got lives to do
Gay Lebanon, you were unapologetically alive -
a night i will never forget

a way of living that excels all other kinds
A party; everywhere you go

For a lifetime of unfinished places
For a lifetime of unruled lives
